Beautiful makeup for halloween

Halloween is the time of year when it’s totally okay to go all out with your makeup.

With a few simple techniques, you can create a look that will make your friends and family do a double-take—and that won’t require hours in front of the mirror.

Here are some of our favorite tips for creating beautiful makeup for halloween:

1) The best way to get an incredible look is by starting with a great base foundation. It’s important to choose one that matches your skin tone, because this will help ensure that you don’t have any caked-on makeup or uneven coverage later on.

2) Try using a darker lip liner on the edges of your lips before applying lipstick or gloss so that it has more definition once applied (or use lip liner instead of lipstick altogether!).

3) A great trick for getting glowing skin is by applying highlighter where there is natural light hitting it (i.e., cheekbones, down the bridge of nose).

As ~chill~ and ~breezy~ as I aspire to be, I will simply never be able to handle last-minute anything—especially when it comes to Halloween costumes. Either I go all-out with an intense homemade DIY costume then sends me into an anxiety spiral, or I get overwhelmed and do nothing at all. But now, I’ve found a new go-to: Halloween makeup that doesn’t require a costume—just a few basic products and some patience, whether you’re trying a Halloween eye makeup look or a Halloween hairstyle.

And don’t worry about your makeup abilities, because I rounded up the 55 best Halloween makeup looks and tutorials of 2022 to start practicing asap. Whether you’re a makeup novice (see #13, I promise anyone can do it), or you’re ready to go full glam (hi #19), you’ve got hella options this year, from pop-culture icons, like Marilyn Monroe and Olivia Rodrigo, to ~reimagined~ classics like a cute cat and a werewolf.

So to the naysayers who swear you can’t come up with a cheap Halloween costume within a few hours, give ‘em some ~spooky~ hell with one of these Halloween makeup ideas:

1. Candy corn Halloween makeup

Candy corn as an actual treat? Very meh. But candy corn as an easy Halloween makeup idea? 100/10 yes. This look from ItsTotallyTara requires zero costume and just a few makeup products, like glossy black lipstick and white, orange, and yellow eyeshadow. Truly, you can’t get easier than than eye makeup and a black sweatshirt (or whatever tf you feel like wearing on spooky night).

2. Mad scientist Halloween makeup

I’m low-key obsessed with this Halloween makeup tutorial from YouTuber Cydnee Black that recreates a creepy scientist after an experiment gone wrong (yes, a pair of protective glasses will be required). To get the smoked-out look around your face, trace gray or black eyeshadow along the outside rim of your glasses while you’re wearing them, blend the lines out with a fluffy brush, then add bits of darker smoke around your face with the same brush for a haphazard finish.
